Our History & Purpose
​In September 1995, Jeff and Janet and their three little girls Yael, Shira and Dalya moved to Canada to start what would be called City of David Messianic Synagogue. Their son, Ari, was born in Canada a few years later.
​
Having been provided many miraculous signs, Jeff and Janet were confident that Toronto was the city and 'now' was the time.
​
Eventually, Messianic Mandate was created as the outreach ministry of City of David Messianic Synagogue for the purpose of bringing the Good News of Messiah to the Jewish people of Toronto and beyond. Few people realize there are more Jewish people in the greater Toronto area than most cities in Israel! Additionally, Messianic Mandate teaches and edifies the Body of Messiah especially regarding Israel and the Jewish roots of the faith, through ministry engagements, newsletters, seminars and the distribution of a variety of resources in churches throughout the GTA.

Our Beliefs
We are a biblically-based, Spirit-filled ministry. Our 13 Articles of Faith define who we are and what we believe. They covers our major doctrinal positions, from the infallibility of the Word of God and how we are cleansed from sin to the importance of water immersion (tavilah).

Our Staff
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:

Messianic Rabbi Jeffrey Forman is the Rabbi of City of David and has been in full time ministry for over 35 years. He currently serves on the Board of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America and is an executive member of the International Alliance of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues. Rabbi Jeff serves on various ministry boards such as Maoz Canada, Jewish Voice Ministries Canada, and REACH Initiative International.
MESSIANIC MINISTER, WORSHIP DIRECTOR & SPEAKER:

Michael Katz is an ordained Messianic Minister with a degree in Jewish studies and an accreditation in music from the South African Music Institute. He is a dynamic worship leader, musician and speaker. Michael is a passionate man of God and an excellent communicator.
YOUTH LEADER & SPEAKER:
Ari grew up in a Messianic home as the son of Rabbi Jeff and Janet Forman. He is currently completing a master's program in molecular genetics at the University of Toronto and is the co-founder of a biotech startup. He serves on the worship team and is a youth leader at City of David Messianic Synagogue. He recently spoke on the main stage at the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America’s Messiah Conference.
COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR & SPEAKER:

Nancy Gallagher has been an active member of City of David Messianic Synagogue for 22 years. She has taught at the secondary level for 30 years and has now joined the Messianic Mandate team as Communications Director.
